Spider Rock, Chinle

A spectacular geologic feature at The Canyon de Chelly is Spider Rock, a sandstone spire that rises more than eight hundred feet, (240 metres) from the canyon floor at the junction of Canyon de Chelly and Monument Canyon. Spider Rock can be seen from South Rim Drive. Spider Rock, Chinle has served as the scene of a number of television commercials.

According to traditional Navajo Indian beliefs the taller of the two spires at Spider Rock is the home of spider woman.
