The Canyon de Chelly is a popular tourist destination in Chinle, Arizona. There are several hotels nearby.

A spectacular geologic feature at The Canyon de Chelly is Spider Rock, a sandstone spire that rises more than eight hundred feet, (240 metres) from the canyon floor at the junction of Canyon de Chelly and Monument Canyon. Spider Rock can be seen from South Rim Drive. Spider Rock, Chinle has served as the scene of a number of television commercials.

According to traditional Navajo Indian beliefs the taller of the two spires at Spder Rock is the home of spider woman.
